Darlene Zimmerman, 81, of Mansfield, died Monday, March 8, 2010 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born October 21, 1928, in New London, she was the daughter of Clayton Clifford and Blanche Hess. Darlene worked for Dutch Pantry and retired from KFC on December 1, 2009 after 21 years of service. Darlene loved her children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed sharing her love of baking with them. She enjoyed collecting thimbles and tins for her homemade baked goods. She attended First Baptist Church in Shelby.
Darlene is survived by seven children, Connie (John) Hewitt of Atlanta, GA, Janis Souter of Albuquerque, NM, Linda (Jerry) Sanchez of Fountain, CO, Garland (Tina) Zimmerman of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael (Mary Kay) Zimmerman of Columbus, Scott (Laurie) Zimmerman of Columbus and Brad Zimmerman of Holly, MI; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Hall of Ocala, FL and Margaret Helms of Elyria, OH; two brothers-in-law, Herbert (Kay) Zimmerman and Marty (Evelyn) Zimmerman; and a sister-in-law, Martha Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel L. Zimmerman on June 17, 2009; parents; two brothers, James and Glenn Hess; and sister, Maxine Hess.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
