Peggy Lou Crawford, 77, of Nova, died Monday, March 9, 2010 at the Kidney Center in Mansfield. Born January 3, 1933 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of George Carl Johnson, Jr. and Lena (Horn) Johnson. An area homemaker, she was an animal lover who enjoyed reading and watching birds. Family was always important to Peggy and she was devoted to nurturing and being the best caregiver for them.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Robyn) Crawford, Jr. of Nova; daughter, Debra Crawford of Nova, who was her caretaker for her last years at home; two grandchildren, Marshall and Bill Crawford; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Thompson of Mansfield; pets, Ataya the dog and Salem the cat; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Crawford, Sr. in 1985, and brothers, George I, Charles, and Frank Johnson.
Friends may call, Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Father Ronald Bryda. Burial will follow in Nova Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
